Thank You for Smoking.

Thank You for Smoking is one of my favorite movies that I have ever seen. I find it interesting that the main character's job is a lobbyist who "spins words" for the tobacco industry. Even though this movie is fairly recent, the ideas in it arent. People thousands of years ago "spun words" in the same ways Nick Naylor did in the movie. The short story that we read was about why Helen shouldnt be blamed for the cause of the Trojan war and even though it was old, it closely resembled what Nick did in Thank You for Smoking. In the movie, he says "If you argue a point well enough you are never wrong." The short story that we read may have been complete BS, but the writer "spun words" the exact same way that Nick did in the movie to make himself seem like he was right. Even though Thank You for Smoking is hilarious and entertaining, it discusses something that people have been doing for thousands of years and will be doing for many years to come.
