End of the Year

Well we are nearing the final stages of our freshman year and I have to say it has been a good one. This year seemed as if it flew by. This past month has been a hell month that has been full of papers and tests, but its nearing the end and the summer is right around the corner (which I am wicked excited about). This summer I plan on searching for a job and hanging with the girlfriend. We are going to go to Cedar Point and do other various random things. Well I hope everyone has a fun and safe summer!

1 year with the Girlfrand!

I am excited to say that my girlfriend (pictured above) and I have reached our one year anniversary! She is pretty much just like me and I am super lucky to have her in my life. Hopefully she will be going to Ball State next year so we dont have to go to separate colleges. Anyway, I thought I would dedicate this blog to Emily (the girlfriend) whom I love ridiculous amounts.

Easter Weekend

This weekend was pretty fun. I didnt do much on friday and saturday until my girlfriend got back. On Sunday, we went out to eat and then had an Easter egg hunt at her house. All the little chillen were trying to find the eggs and such. After that we said our goodbyes and headed back to college. Overall it was a good weekend.

New Phone

So I was eligible for an upgrade over this weekend and I decided to go with the Voyager. Its soooo much better than my other phone. I really like it so far, but I did get shafted b/c it cost me 200 dollars. Maybe I will be able to return it and be able to get it cheaper, but who knows.

Freewrite....take 2

Structure is good to have in an essay. I make movies and if there is no structure the movie will suck to the extreme. Speaking of movies...I havent made one in awhile...maybe i should get on that.
how about a movie about jacobs messed up dream?? (have him tell you about it its all kinds of crazy)
I will collaborate with Aaron and Jacob and we shall make a movie of epic proportions.
yeah you have to have structure in your essays or whatever you are doing. structure helps the viewer follow what it is you are exactly trying to say. I think that this has been a good freewriting session. I should do this more often...
One point that I would like to make is that this blog doesnt represent good structure at all...I mean its all over the place. The point McArdle made about Collateral was pretty good, even though he freakin ruined the movie. I mean seriously why not just go around ruining the endings to all the good movies?

Here is an example: (SPOILER ALERT!)

McArdle:"Hey kid you ever seen The Sixth Sense?"

Young Boy: "No but I am going to watch it tomorrow I am really excited to see it I heard its really good!"

McArdle: "Yeah the main dude is dead the whole time and he doesnt find out until the end."

Young Boy: "....you are a jerk"

McArdle: (laughs) [Emperor Palpatine laugh]

P.S sorry if I ruined the movie for you guys, I'm just trying to make a point, oh the irony...

Where The Wild Things Are

I dont know about you, but this childrens' book was read to me quite often when I was in elementary school. Now they are making the movie. The trailer looks promising, and I hope the movie is good as well. Here is the trailer if you want to check it out.

Freeeeeewriting

Problem paper; child obesity

have to show more stats about child obesity. Make my paragraphs longer and more persuasive...i think im going to play the devil's advocate...
...Why are chillin fat like really...who cares?, I see fat kids all the time and dont flip out. why would someone even want to read what I have to say on fat kids? Ads like larger kids when it comes to food, they do appeal to their demographic. Maybe the more healthy a person is, the better off they will be. I did hear that if you eat healthy you can actually heal wounds faster
...maybe I should eat healthy, I do have 2 bum toenails (or lack there of). Practice what I preach. About 70% of my solutions that I propose I dont even do to get healthy so why even put them in there? People can read papers and articles like this all they want, but it all comes down to action, and that is the hardest part oh getting kids to lose weight. There are thousands of methods to get slim and I could really care less. If I want to get fit i will do it on my own.

I did propose the solution of more gym time in schools in my solution paper...you know Hitler saw that physical fitness was important to society and added a lot of gym time in his schools...that sounds a lot like our society today. Just look at the entertainment industry. Children shouldnt be really overweight though I mean it is bad for your health. Perhaps scaring kids into getting thin isnt the way to go, i mean you have the parents, if they arent living a "healthy lifestyle" then the kids wont....so whats really the problem here?

Everyone BUT the obese kids??
schools
parents
fast food resteraunts

What if it is the kids fault? i mean they are after all obese, but can they really help it? maybe the obese kids are proud of their size

Yeah this is a problem, but arent there bigger ones out there? Look at our economy I would say thats a bigger issue than kids who are obese. And stats are showing now that obesity rates are declining...slowly but hey its a start
Is child obesity an issue? yeah, but how big of an issue is it? Sure the articles you read including my own paper will make it seem like its the biggest problem ever but is it really??

Eng Homework That We Have Over Spring Break...Suck

English 102 Course Goals
1) I am aware that that rhetoric can be both visual and in the text form. I am comfortable with this and practice this.
2) I am comfortable as to how to use persuasion to...persuade the viewer or reader and have been doing this for a long time now.
3) I have developed my style and am comfortable with the way i write.
4) Its important to know what exactly you are talking about and be clear on what you say, otherwise the reader will put it down and watch MTV...and bring about the end of the world.
5) You have to have good points if you want a good argument. Or like McArdle likes to say "You gotta have those glowsticks when you are at the rave"...terrible simile in my opinion.
6) Hey its prolly a good idea if you do research on a topic you are talking about! JUST SAYIN.
7) In order to develop your inner writer you must practice what you are writing. Blogging is actually a good idea to help develop your style
8) Its important to have your papers correctly formatted otherwise your "ethos" will be tainted. Who wants to read a paper that is poorly formatted?!
9) Slacking=death, so I make sure that I am responsible when it comes to papers and stuff
10) I am comfortable with this goal fully and have no problem interacting in a group.
11) I need to work on this goal, but I am trying to improve by revising.
12) I am trying to take constructive criticism and get better at writing and communicating what it is I'm trying to say.

Course Content & Format
1) I completely understand this goal and like being analyzed by my peers as well as analyzing my classmates
2) I understand this goal and find this goal quite easy to achieve.
3) I enjoy confrences and find it crucial for helping a writer get better.
4) This goal is a work in progress.

University Core Curriculum Goals:
1) I am slowly getting better at achieving this goal, but I do enjoy learning
2) Communicating at the college level is not a problem for me.
3) Everyone has their own set of beliefs and values and its important to respect other peoples opinions even if they differ from your own.
4) Knowledge of history can greatly help how we progress as mankind
5) Its important to work with others to solve problems. If people worked together many then we could solve many issues.
6) I am using my talents and skills. I went to this college because of my love of making films.

Spring Break...Part Deux

Oh you didnt think that I would leave out the best part of Spring Break would you?!? This part of SB was sooo eventful that it needed its very own blog post. Im going to give you some backstory on this before I inform you on "The Incident" that ocured to me over Spring Break...

My big toenails have been a' hurtin' for a few months now...I mean like wow these mothers hurt. The nail was infected and it was super nasty gross. It bled, smelled bad and was hard to look at. ANYWAYYY...so on Monday I went to the podiatrist (foot doctor) to get it checked out. The moment Dr. Gohil saw my toenails he said in a thick Indian accent: "Ohh dear dos are very very bad and must come off TODAY!"

Now when he said the words "come off" I was kind of confused and then I realized it...BOTH of the toenails were going to be ripped off with a pair of pliers yeah i know... freakin pliers.

So he lays be back in this huge chair and tells me to "relax" as he pulls out a huge ass shot. He claimed that the needle needed to be big so it would "hit the nerve" my foot would become completely numb. He then told me that I would receive 4 shots in each foot...FML.

He gives me the shots and I dont need to tell you how bad they hurt, and I already have a thing with needles anyway. But after my toes were numb he went to work and what I'm about to show you may bother you. I am deciding to show you exactly what he did to my toe instead of simply telling you. Dont watch this is you have a weak stomach and I am being serious. This video is a less professional version of what happened to me, but you will get the idea. So without further adieu I give you...my Spring Break.

Spring Break Aftermath

Over Spring Break my girlfriend and I thought that we would spend our days doing nothing but laying around in a bed the whole week and wow...were we wrong. Instead we spent our days watching her nieces Gracie (5) and Amirah (4). Dont get me wrong they are super cute and funny but they are a pain to watch. My girlfriend and I spent more time watching her nieces than we actually did spending time with each other. Spring Break was fun, but not the way I was depicting. Anyway here are some pics of the lil chillinz.

Log #6

Monday:
Today we were assigned our multimodel projects. We were each assigned a specific topic and have to create a website using Weebly so show us our stance on the topic. McArdle talked about how we should use links and videos in not only our projects but our blogs as well. He then went on to tell us of the importance of having multiple elements in our project.

Wednesday:
Today we needed our books, however, only 2 people had them...McArdle lost it. These pages went over the importance of defining what exactly you are talking about in any given paper. McArdle also went over Ethos, Pathos, Logos, and talked about the importance of that as well. After he finished talking he let us work on our websites for the last ten minutes of class.

Friday:
Today we got in our peer response groups and looked over our papers. Amanda, John, and Sara are going to be reviewed on Monday. He then told us that we would be reviewing Jacob's and Olin's papers the following Monday.

Spring Break

So for spring break I am definitely NOT going to this place. Maybe if I had money I could go there. I am going to be spending my spring break hanging with the girlfriend and doing nothing at all and thats fine by me. So I may not be going to an amazing beach, but I will be spending my break with an amazing person.

Weekend at BSU

I have only stayed for 2 weekends at BSU. My girlfriend was actually able to come and see me. We didnt think that the weekend would be that great but it actually turned out to be really fun. We ate at a Thai place and the food there was super good. After we ate, we went to Late Night and jumped on the huge bouncyhouses. Overall we had a great weekend and I hope she can come here more often because weekends at BSU are waayyyy better than the weekends at Indiana State

Digg

My good friend told me about the website called "Digg.com". This website is quite addicting. It constantly refreshes new news and other pointless information that people find interesting. If you havent heard of this site you should check it out.

The Weekend

This weekend was very good but it seemed like it went wayyyy to fast. I drove to ISU to see my girlfriend and got there earlier than I expected. We didnt really do much of anything but lounge around and play the card game "Phase Ten" (which lasts for hours). I wanted to show her Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but for some reason we never got around to it. Hopefully I will get to show it too her next weekend so she can see how freakin amazing that movie is. Until then I will have to get through another week here at BSU.

Fav. Bands.

So I need another post for the week so here are my favorite bands in no particular order:

Modest Mouse
Coldplay
Radiohead
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Killers
Muse
Weezer
The Strokes
The Arcade Fire
Beck

There you have it! If you have any other good bands to recommend let me know because I need some new music.

Castle Crashers!!!!

This game was introduced to my friends and I by none other than Mr. James Rasley. It is a simple game where all you do is rescue a princess while fighting your way through numerous villians in various locations (very similar to any Mario game). You can choose from one of four knights that each have their own special powers. This game is very simple to play, but is quite challenging and frusterating at times. Castle Crashers shows you that 2d games can still be just as much fun as any other game out there. This game is so simple, but dont let that fool you. This game is addicting as hell.

Thank You for Smoking.

Thank You for Smoking is one of my favorite movies that I have ever seen. I find it interesting that the main character's job is a lobbyist who "spins words" for the tobacco industry. Even though this movie is fairly recent, the ideas in it arent. People thousands of years ago "spun words" in the same ways Nick Naylor did in the movie. The short story that we read was about why Helen shouldnt be blamed for the cause of the Trojan war and even though it was old, it closely resembled what Nick did in Thank You for Smoking. In the movie, he says "If you argue a point well enough you are never wrong." The short story that we read may have been complete BS, but the writer "spun words" the exact same way that Nick did in the movie to make himself seem like he was right. Even though Thank You for Smoking is hilarious and entertaining, it discusses something that people have been doing for thousands of years and will be doing for many years to come.

Winter Break.

This winter break was much needed for me. I spent the majority of it just sitting around with my girlfriend doing nothing all day. I did go ice skating and went to the Cheesecake factory for the first time. It blows that this break is over because it seemed way to fast for me. Now I have to get in "back to school" mode....eff.
